Among Redd’s personal affects is a golf ball, circa 1910, from James Braid’s fifth Open Championship win on the Old Course at Saint Andrews, with a note: “For representing yourself well on the green, and as an expression of my gratitude for your contribution to an invigorating practice round. And please rest assured of my sincerity in saying that your Lady’s game was equally impressive. For although I have indeed made the same observation in jest about many a gentleman’s swing, in her case, and yours, I meant it as a compliment.”
