One of Redd’s prime inspirations was Lord Horatio Nelson, gifted tactician and conqueror of the high seas, and as far as Redd was concerned there were few greater examples of heroism in action. To Redd, following Nelson’s lead, the color of navy blue came to symbolize the highest honor and heroism. Naturally, Redd would wear a navy blazer when it was appropriate; which it often was.
